
Co-Founder, Chairman and President - John Melick III. John has over 25 years of international telecommunications experience. Prior to co founding Voyport. John was part of the co-founding management team at Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc., where he helped Primus grow from a start up in 1994, to a Fortune 1000 company with USD $1+ Billion in annualized revenues between 2001 and 2005. Prior to Primus, John was an executive at MCI, following its acquisition of Overseas Telecommunications, Inc. (OTI). John is a recognized entrepreneur in the international telecommunications sector. John’s many career accomplishments include negotiating and launching the first ever international business satellite services for multinational corporations in over 10 different countries in Latin America. Customers included companies such as American Express, Ford Motor Company, IBM, Citicorp, Reuters, Cargill, and Occidental Petroleum among others. John has also has also pioneered next generation global VoIP technologies, products and services, and most recently was awarded Frost & Sullivan’s CEO of the Year award for VoIP services in 2005. John holds a B.A. degree from University of Maryland and an M.S. degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Co Founder and CEO - Jay Rosenblatt. Jay has over 18 years of international telecommunications experience. Prior to co founding Voyport, Jay was part of the co-founding management at Primus Telecommunications Group Inc. During Jay’s 12 years at Primus, he started and built the Global Service Providers Division which grew to over USD $300M in sustained revenues with local operations in over 12 countries, while conceiving new information tools which changed how the international wholesale calling industry operates today. Jay also demonstrated prudent management skills driving significant profitability from the over USD $500M annual revenue stream that he managed in various countries around the world in North America, Europe and Asia. Jay also furthered his track record as an innovator by launching Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to consumer, business and wholesale customers, and established the first post-paid international Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in the USA. Jay holds a B.S. in both Managerial Economics and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Chief Financial Officer - Charles W. Schwantes. Chuck has 25 years of telecommunications experience. Prior to joining Voyport, Chuck was CFO of multiple operating units at Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc., including the US and Japanese subsidiaries, as well as the global carrier services division. This included the financial management of a business with a combined revenue stream of over USD $500M annually as part of a USD $1+ Billion consolidated publicly traded enterprise. Prior to joining Primus, Chuck held progressively more senior management roles in the finance organizations of MCI, Teleglobe and Teligent. Chuck has an MBA degree from Pace University and has passed the CPA exam in New York State.
Chief Information Officer - Amir Yazdanpanah. Amir is a successful entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in software development and international telecommunications. In 1996, Amir founded Telarix, which has become a global leader in providing revenue assurance, cost management, and network optimization solution to wireline, wireless, and broadband service providers. As Telarix CEO, Amir raised $9.5Million in venture capital and positioned the company to develop, market, sell, and implement multi-million dollar solutions to Tier-1 carriers around the world, including Verizon/MCI, Sprint, Deutsche Telecom, and Telecom Italia among others. Telarix solutions enabled carriers to realize significant return on investment in a short time period through automation of business processes, access to actionable real-time business intelligence and faster decision making. For three consecutive years (2004-2006), Telarix was recognized by Deloitte and Touche as Virginia Technology Fast 50. Amir is a non-executive Board Director of Telarix.
Prior to starting Telarix, Amir was Director of Application Development at Cable & Wireless North America, where he managed software development organization responsible for Customer Care, Marketing, and Sales automation systems. Prior to C&W, Amir held senior management position at ICS Information Technology, a software solution provider to telecommunication industry which was purchased by WorldCom in 1992. Prior to ICS, Amir spent five years as an Executive Engineer at British Telecom’s world famous research and development laboratory in Martlesham Heath, Ipswich (UK).
Amir holds a BS in Electronic Engineering From Sussex University (UK) , and an MBA from leading European business school, Cranfield (UK). Amir holds a joint US Patent in relation to software architecture, systems, and methods for managing interconnect carrier routing.
